FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I just have a few items to move. Is this possible?
Of course, we can ship almost anything from individual items to full households almost anywhere in the world. The most efficient way for smaller consignments is to ship them as ‘part loads’ or ‘groupage’ (see explanation below).
What does Groupage / part load mean?
This is a cost efficient method of moving goods between popular destinations. We consolidate a number of consignments onto 1 vehicle or into 1 container destined for the same location, which means the transportation costs can be shared. Due to the volume of traffic we handle we run weekly services to and from Europe and load containers to Cyprus, the Canary Islands and for most other major ports on a regular basis, so transit times are still very short. This means you can save a significant amount of money without having to wait a long time for your consignment.
Are my goods covered for damage or loss?
We offer Transit Liability (referred to as Standard Liability in section 9.1 of our Terms and Conditions) to cover your possessions to whatever value you advise us. We then charge a percentage of that value - this percentage will be specified on your quotation.
Packing
Can you do the packing?
– Yes. If you would like us to do the packing for you, we will bring along all the materials we need to pack and wrap your consignment with utmost care and efficiency. Can I pack myself ?
– Yes, and even if you decide to do the packing, anything which doesn’t fit into boxes (such as furniture, pictures and appliances) will still be wrapped in protective coverings during transit.Do you provide boxes ?
– Yes. We recommend using our purpose built boxes to pack your consignment. They offer maximum protection, and because they are of uniform shape and size, enable the consignment to stack up securely during transit. What size are the boxes ?
– The main box used is called a ‘standard carton’ and is 18”x18”x20” / 46x46x50cm. A book box is the same, but only 10” / 25cm high.Wardrobe boxes are used for hanging clothes, and the rail is 18” / 46cm long.
When and how do I pay?
We will issue an invoice for settlement at the appropriate time during the moving process. In any case, payment must be received in full with cleared funds prior to delivery. We are happy to take credit or debit card details over the telephone. Payment by cheque is acceptable subject to clearance time, or bank transfers can also be arranged.
THE MOVING PROCESS
This will vary according to your requirements, the size of the move, the service we offer (ie. direct delivery / part load) and the destination, but this is a typical outline of the process.
Step 1 – Get a quote (typically 4 weeks prior to moving).
We tailor each move to suit individual requirements, so we need to establish some details about your move. You will find on this website a ‘contents of house form’ which you can complete and send to us - or feel free to contact us by phone, fax or email and we will assist you. From the information you provide, we usually give you an immediate ‘outline quote’. This can then be written up as a full written quote and sent to you by email, fax or post – which ever is most convenient.
Step 2 – Acceptance of quote (typically 2 weeks prior to removal).
To proceed with a quote, you need to return an ‘Acceptance of Quotation’ which will be included within a full written quotation. By doing this you are entering into a contract with us and are accepting our terms and conditions of business which will be enclosed within the quote, and are also available on this website to download. When we receive the acceptance we will schedule your removal and confirm the arrangements.
Step 3 – Removal day.
Our professional crew will arrive to collect your effects. If a packing service has been requested, we will bring along all the materials and professionally pack and wrap your possessions. Even if you have packed yourself, we will still take care of all non-boxed items such as furniture, pictures and appliances with protective transit covers.
Step4 – Delivery.
At the time of delivery we will unwrap and place all the furniture and boxes into your new property. We will take away the materials and ensure items are placed in the correct rooms so you can settle comfortably into your new home.
